We are thrilled to announce that our design for the conversion and extension of the listed Parkstone Water Tower, for Nest Homes, has gained planning approval. Laurie Marlow here at DJA, and Matt Annen at Pure Town Planning secured planning permission yesterday at committee for this important site in Poole. The committee were extremely impressed with the quality of the design and it’s respect for the design heritage of this landmark structure.
Our design involves a single new structure directly behind the tower and subservient to the tower both in terms of scale, height and design language.
Being located behind the tower, the new building links to the tower lightly with clear glass walls, without detracting from the towers stature or presence. The contrasting contemporary design language respects the design heritage of the tower and allows the heritage asset to be ‘better revealed’.
A glass atrium positioned directly behind the tower creates an elegant ‘light weight’ link between the old and new structures.
Thanks to MC Property Ventures for allowing us to look around Balcombe Breeze and Sylvan Sonata – two stunning developments designed by DJA. It is always a treat to view completed projects, especially those where the practice has provided a full suite of services 😀
Most of the dedicated team at DJA made it in to work despite the crazy spring weather we had last week 🙂
Unanimously approved at planning committee, another David James design for an exceptional house with uninterrupted views over the Solent.
We at DJA are looking forward to delivering this house from inception to completion, and will be involved in all phases of the construction from working drawings through to interior architecture…
We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted again at this years International Design & Architecture Awards, in the Residential £2.5- 5 million (property by value) category, for La Serena.
DJA undertook the design & planning, technical design, interior design and project management for this site.
DJA has recently achieved planning permission for Excellare, for this contemporary bungalow situated in a beautiful sylvan setting in Canford Cliffs, Poole.
Set in the heart of a wooded area with considerable tree constraints, the dwelling has been sympathetically designed to complement the treed setting with the extensive use of floor to ceiling glazing to lighten the structure and allowing it to reflect the surrounding vegetation. Aluminium frames are lightweight and unobtrusive, with timber cladding and louvres adding texture and interest to the form.
The design appears to float over the landscape, elevated on pilotis thus creating minimum impact to the surrounding area.
Another planning approval for a DJA design – we worked closely with Pure Town Planning to secure planning permission for this block of 10 self contained apartments in Poole. The design is of a contemporary nature, within a traditional building envelope, sympathetically designed to respect the character of the surrounding area.
We are thrilled to announce that we recently won the award of Best Design-Led Architectural Practice – Dorset, in the South West Enterprise Awards 2017.
